The Fire in the Belly team includes key members of Project X (2005), Playatech (2005), the Pagoda of Infinite Reflection (2004), Twisted Infinity (2004), and multiple other large and small installations, fire art, camps, and mutant vehicles. Our leader Glimmer organized Burning Silicon’s regional theme camp in 2005 (200 members, 30 RVs, 5 bars, 10 mutant vehicles). Recruitment began early 2006, and over two dozen burners have gotten their hands dirty so far. We do not believe anyone on the entire team is a professional artist nor has any desire to be one. We do this for deeper reasons than career, involving personal growth and creating ways for the team and our community to fully immerse ourselves in the 10 Burning Man Principles we love. We are the quintessential examples of non-artists who arrived on the playa, were transformed into passionate artistic participation, and love facilitating that process for more and more people on playa and in default. We hope this project achieves that, and supports our entire City in deeply connecting with one of humanity’s most basic pairings of hopes and fears.
Since inception, over two dozen burners have participated in creating and executing this project.
